Thursday 28 - 15 Dear Bill; Winter will soon be here: The fall is now over half gone. The crops are all harvested but the pig crop, I hope to harvest that along in December if the price is favorable. This summer has indeed been a short one. It also has been a very, very hard one but thank heaven it has passed quickly. I am not nearly so wise as I thought I was eight months ago and yet I am much, much wiser. Taking all things into consideration I have not done so very badly and yet not so very good. Allen Solomon to Watt Samuel (Deed for 25 Acres) This Indenture made this thirteenth day of April in the Year of our Lord Christ One thousand Seven hundred & Ninety two Between Solomon Allen of the County of Rockingham and State of North Carolina of the one part & Samuel Watt Junr. of the other part Witnesseth that the said Solomon Allen for and in consideration of the Sum of Fifty Pounds Specie to him in hand paid before the Sealing & Signing of these Presents, the Receipt whereof he the sd. Solomon Allen doth hereby Acknowledge himself there with fully Satisfyed; hath Bargained Sold Aliened made over Conveyed & Confirmed and doth by these presents bargain sell alienate make Over and Convey and Confirm Unto the sd. Samuel Watt his heirs and assigns a Tract or parcel of Land Containing by Estimation Twenty Five Acres Lying and being in the County aforesaid on the Waters of Hogans Creek & bounded as follows Begining at a hickory Corner of his Own & Charles Deens & runs East Twenty poles to a hickory bush, then South Two hundred poles to a Stake then West Twenty poles to a black Oak his corner & from thence his own line to the first Station To have and to Hold to Possess Occupy & Enjoy the aforesaid Twenty five Acres of Land together with all Appurtenances there unto belonging or in any wise Appertaining to the sd. 50. {Certificate. {No. 8608 The United States of America, To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting: Whereas, Alexander C. Keeton of Lowndes County Mississippi has deposited in the General Land Office of the United States, a certificate of the Register of the Land Office at Mount Salus whereby it appears that full payment has been made by the said Alexander C Keeton according to the provisions of the act of Congress of the 24th April, 1820, entitled "An act making further provision for the sale of the Public Lands," for the north half of lot two, of section one, in township twenty, South of Tennessee, of range Eighteen west, in the District of Lands subject to sale at Mount Salus, Mississippi, containing Forty acres according to the official plat of the survey of the said Lands, returned to the General Land Office by the Surveyor General, which said tract has been purchased by the said Alexander C Keeton NOW KNOW YE, That the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, in consideration of the premises, and in conformity with the several acts of Congress, in such case made and provided, have given and granted, and, by these presents, do give and grant, unto the said Alexander C Keeton and to his heirs, the said tract above described: To Have and to Hold the same, together with all the rights, privileges, immunities and appurtenances, of whatsoever nature thereunto belonging, unto the said Alexander C Keeton and to his heirs and assigns forever. In testimony whereof, I, Andrew Jackson PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, have caused these Letters to be made Patent, and the Seal of the General Land Office to be hereunto affixed.
