paste neither doth this deponent knowe what quantity of goodes were entred in the said Custome howses in the name of the said Mathew de Boyes within the space of the 3 yeares next before the last 3 yeares. <12> That he doth not knowe whether the said Mathew de Boyes doth & hath driuen as great a trade now & for the space of 3 yeares last past as he did the three yeares next before the said last 3 yeares or whether he doth driue a great trade or to what value by the yeare he this deponent knoweth not. Examinatn Scram me Io: Walter Timothe Dalhutt William Abells of London marchant straunger aged 31 yeares or thereabouts sworne & examined the xxiiijth day of November 1628 deposeth as followeth. <1> That he doth not knowe knowe or hath heard to his last remembrance of Iacob Croppe now or late an apprentice of servant of Mathew de Boyes of Norwich marchant stranger and he this deponent therefor may cannot depose any thinge materiall to the other questions in the Inter. <2> That he doth not knowe but beleeveth that he hath heard of the father of the said Iacob Croppe who is now by profession a schoole- master but what profession he heretofore hath been this deponent knoweth not & more to this Interr he cannot depose for that he is not acquainted with the said Iacob Croppes father. <3> That he doth not knowe of a certaine p[er]cell of Linen cloath brought into this kingdome from the p[ar]tes beyonde the seas by waye of merchandize in or about Iulye last on the Shippes of Bushinge in the Interr named or on any other Shippes & entred in the Custome booke of London in the name of the said Iacob Croppe Englishe & he therefore can no more depose to this Interr <4> That he cannot depose for that he neither knoweth the said Iacob Croppe in the Interr named nor any thinge of the said p[er]cell therein menconed. <5> That he doth not knowe what quantityes of goodes inwards & outwards haue been entred in the Custome howses of London & Yarmouth in the name of the said Iacob Croppe within the space of 3 yeares now laste gaste nor of what value the said goodes haue been & this deponent further saieth that he knoweth not whether the goodes soe entred in his name were his owne prop[er] goodes or whether he is a man of ability likelye to be owner thereof he also knoweth not, neither doth this deponent knowe nor hath he heard whether any of the goodes of the said Mathew de Boyes or of Seagher de Boyes or of any other were entred in the said Iacob Croppes name. <6> That he doth not knowe Jo: Ellison lininge an Rotterdam or in any other p[ar]te beyonde the seas neither hath this deponent euer hande of the said John Ellison & he therefore can not depose to the residue of his Interr. <7> That he neither knoweth nor hath heard whether the said Ellison is or hath lately been a factor or dealer for the said Mathew de Boys or for any other marchant stranger. <8> That he knoweth not how much the said Iacob Croppe is knowne or reputed to be worth of his owne estate or for how much his creditt will alone passe att Norwich or London for in regarde this deponent knoweth not the said Iacob Croppe <9> That he knoweth not how some entres of goodes haue been made in the said Iacob Croppes name for that he doth not nor hath heard untill but nor hath heard untill but that the wayshers of the Custom house & also of some other persons knowe of any goodes that were att any time entred in by the said Croppes name in any the said Custome howse s of London as you may nor hath heard but of some of the wayshers of the Custome howse & also of some that there were any goods in his name entred therefor & more to this Interr he cannot depose. <10> That he did about the xxiiijth daye of August last past enter cause to be entred in the Custome howse of London a Case of Linen cloath inlaid w[i]th I: C: containinge 492 ells or thereabouts in the name of Marten Cornelison marchant stranger by the direction & appontem[en]t of Seagher de Boyes w[hi]ch said goodes were consigned vnto him the said Seagher de Boyes as this deponent verily beleeveth but for whose accompte the said goodes were he this deponent knoweth not & the said goodes were inlaid w[i]th I: C: & M: C: & the number of the said goodes were no. 19 20. 20 & this deponent did refuse to shewe the Invoice or factory of the said goodes in the Case no 20 because he had not the same about him & there & he did not conceald any in part of the Invoice of the other Case when they required him to write & had paid strangers Custome & there he continued he was not bounde to shew either Invoice & further that he had deliuered the said Invoice . <11> That he doth not knowe what quantity of goodes haue been entred in the said Custome howses in the name of the said Mathew de Boyes within the space of the 3 yeares next before the last 3 yeares or whether there were any goodes soe entred he this deponent also knoweth not.
